Hello, and welcome to my site. My name is Conor Short- I am a freelance actor, director and teacher based in Paris, specialising in the study of Shakespeare through acting.

Since graduating from drama school in 2007, I’ve been leading practical workshops on Shakespeare plays alongside my acting career. The bulk of my experience comes from Shakespeare’s Globe in London, where I worked as an education practitioner and learning consultant for over twelve years. As a learning consultant, I ran professional development for teachers, observed and trained other practitioners and ran various projects, ranging from literacy modules for Early Years to summer schools for budding professional actors. I moved back to France in 2019 and alongside my freelance work in international schools, I now run weekly drama clubs for the British Section in Saint Germain and Kids on Stage in Le Pecq.

Whether it’s an introduction to Shakespeare, a storytelling session or revision for IGCSEs or the OIB, a workshop will involve students exploring the text through fun practical activities that require critical analysis and provoke a personal response. My workshops are tailored to the needs of the group in close consultation with teachers, with the guiding principle that Shakespeare is best approached on your feet, playing the text. To quote Hamlet loosely, ‘the play’s the thing’.

Please get in touch if you’d like to know more or to arrange workshops for your students. I look forward to hearing from you.
